Pilulka Lab invests in Czech medical startup Carebot

It’s been a couple of months since Pilulka and StartupYard announced the launch of Pilulka Lab with the aim of accelerating startups in the field of healthcare digitalization. The first acquisition is Carebot, a project that helps doctors get better diagnoses not only from X-ray images with the help of artificial intelligence.

“Carebot can recommend to doctors in seconds with machine-like precision what findings are present on chest X-rays and also flag up disease foci. The app thus significantly improves the quality of diagnoses, can detect findings that a doctor might not notice in a hospital setting, and can help save lives as well,” says Carebot CEO and co-founder Daniel Kvak.

Pilulka Lab focuses on supporting healthcare startups from Central and Eastern Europe working in the fields of artificial intelligence, blockchain, medical data, healthcare and active life support. That’s why Pilulka, through its accelerator, decided to join Carebot, which will now go through its three-month accelerator program.

“Pilulka is synonymous with innovation in healthcare. That’s why we want to support projects that transform the segment and bring better care to people in the region. We have analysed over 50 companies from 14 countries in a few months and are in closer discussions with several. We are delighted that Carebot is the first among the projects to join the accelerator. For us, it meets all the parameters to be extremely successful and to start a revolution in the quality of diagnoses,” says Martin Kasa, co-founder of Pilulka.cz and Pilulka Lab.

Carebot will be able to start helping in hospitals and clinics not only in the Czech Republic, but also around the world,” confirms Carebot co-founder Matěj Misař.

Carebot is being developed with doctors for doctors. According to the company’s representatives, patients and the entire healthcare system will benefit from better diagnoses. Improving the quality of diagnoses can mean catching diseases at an earlier stage and a higher chance of a patient’s recovery. Once certified, the Carebot app will be able to be implemented in any hospital and practice locally and globally

The company’s ambitions go even further. “Chest image analysis is just the beginning. We already know that we can scale our solution to almost any screening that is done, not just static ones. One day Carebot will also help with diagnoses from CT scans, MRIs or colonoscopies,” adds Daniel Kvak.
